Research Intern, Greater China OMDC, IHS Markit
We currently seek for a high-caliber full-time research intern based in Beijing to join us from November 2020 to the summer of 2021.
The intern will be a member of the Greater China Oil, Midstream, Downstream (OMD) team with the potential to being offered a full-time position in 2021.
He / she will perform both fundamental researches and focused studies along the petroleum value chain to a wide customer base including National Oil Companies, International Oil Companies and financial institutions.

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates should demonstrate the following education, skills, eligibility, and experience :
Master’s degree or a candidate of a Master's degree completing no later than September 2021
Demonstrated passion or interest in one or more of our key industry sectors
Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment
Ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting
Legal eligibility to work for the duration of the program in the country for which you apply
Preference given to candidates with relevant experience and study background
General duties include :
Organize and maintain IHS Markit OMD’s database.
Identify and discern policy and commercial market trends in China’s OMD markets.
Track key projects and company activities by conducting primary research online and contacting key players to verify critical information.
Support client and internal administrative activities.
Specific Job Duties :
Support senior researchers’ activities by producing deadline-driven analysis for site visits, consulting projects, and client presentations.
Build and maintain databases to identify trends in China’s energy markets.
Contribute analysis to research reports and presentations by going through industry periodicals and external data sources.
Contribute to business needs by working under the direction senior members of the team to create spreadsheets, graphics, and slides.
Seek out peer review of materials and provide benchmarking in areas of assigned disciplines.
Help internal administrative tasks including preparing relevant materials and compiling reports, among others.
Required Education :
Master’s degree or above in business management, economics, finance, international affairs, etc., related background in energy and environmental researches is a plus
Experience doing primary research in Mandarin Chinese and English (fluency in reading and speaking).
Other skills :
Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of business.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and ability to navigate and excel in a complex, heavily matrixed organization, and relate successfully to a variety of people externally and internally.
Highly organized and creative with accomplished time management skills.
Proficient with MS applications required (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Advanced degree and / or experience in the energy modeling and the energy industry a plus.
