Become a Part of the Nike Team

As a Network Engineer focused on the Nike Retail network Infrastructure as part of the Consumer Infrastructure Solutions & Support Store Support team, you'll be responsible for the ongoing operations and infrastructure supporting the Point of Sale (POS) Application systems within over 700 Nike Retail stores globally.

This includes everything from basic Factory Stores, to elaborate showcase stores, such as New York NikeTown and Santa Monica Field House.

You'll ensure continued store operations for all stores are working as designed, as well as working through external Service Providers and internal teams in planning and executing store openings, remodels and closings.

In support of Nike's global retail focus, you'll contribute to the integration and engineering of the Nike POS systems, including working with geographic Retail teams to incorporate specific local requirements.

You'll help focus on introducing technological innovations to support new Nike business initiatives and to increase efficiency within the store environment.

Your subject areas will include traditional Network infrastructure components (WAN, LAN, WLAN, Firewalls, Loadbalancers, Proxy solutions) also work in conjunction with store operation teams for supporting handheld devices, payment terminals, kiosks, ticket printers, loss-prevention systems, work force management systems, etc.

In addition, you'll work closely with the development, operations, business, and partner teams to ensure successful results.

As a Retail Network Engineer, you'll bring the following :

  • Strong communication skills requiredIn addition to those general role responsibilities, you’ll need some specific experience and have some specific accountability, including :
  • Cisco Wireless Expertise with Centralized Enterprise management design
  • Advanced understanding and experience with Enterprise Network Infrastructure and Topology
  • WAN, LAN, Wireless, Firewall, Proxy Services, Application Load Balancing, WAN Acceleration, etc
  • Understanding of OSI model.
  • Ability to perform packet capture and analysis
  • Understanding of common protocols - their functions, port nos., acronyms etc.
  • Understanding of private and Public IP addressing
  • Authentication and Encryption methods used in wireless in enterprise environments.
  • Experience in setting up wireless from a security perspective in a highly sensitive enterprise space
  • Apple handheld device integration experience
  • Mobile Device Management System Administration
  • Network Device Management System Administration
  • Design document creation and operational process documentation
  • Strong communication skills required (oral and written)
  • Ability to work with onshore / offshore teams, and communicate using virtual communication tools (phone, conferencing, online meeting)
  • Ability to support working outside of normal business hours to provide after hour or "on-call" support when necessary to solve high profile issues or complete critical path projects
  • Project management and organizational skills must be sophisticated enough to be able to track and drive complex global technical initiatives to completion with the assistance of Retail IT / third party vendor staff
  • Candidate would benefit from application engineering and deployment / build experience
  • To make it clear, we’re not looking for just anyone. We’re looking for someone special, someone who had these experiences and clearly demonstrated these skills :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years' experience in Network Infrastructure implementation and support
  • 2 years' additional experience required in lieu of a degree
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate preferred
  • Cisco Wireless Certification strongly preferred
  • Experience with Juniper HW and Junos OS strongly preferred
  • Prefer experience in a Retail environment
  • Ability to pull a diverse group of individuals with different goals together and facilitate productive discussions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Flexible, ability to deal with ambiguity, and a demonstrated desire for continuous personal growth
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to motivate and mentor others within work group
  • Ability to work with onshore / offshore teams, and communicate using virtual communication tools (phone, conferencing, online meeting)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical IT teams
  • Experience with Lean principles and methods is preferred
  • Ability to pass a 7 year background investigation.
