Objectives :

  • With an investment of up to US$10 billion the new integrated site inGuangdong will be BASF’s largest investment and ultimately BASF’s third-largestsite worldwide, operated under sole responsibility of BASF.
  • BASF will install asteam cracker with a planned capacity of 1 million metric tons / year of ethyleneand more than 40 process plants, which produce innovative and consumer-orienteddownstream products.

  • A strong Site Logistics Operations is important for the success of thenew Verbund site. Site logistics connects the production facilities among eachother, secures the raw material supply and acts as gateway to our customers.
  • Time, costs and reliability of supply require logistics processes to beorganized in a future-oriented way. The jetties and tank farm represent thesite s most critical gateway way for raw materials and finished goods.

    TheProject Operations Manager ensures the right concept set up and theimplementation of the state-of-the-art truck management and container terminaloperations at the new integrated site.

    MainTasks :

  • Ensure communication as primary contact for Engineering and R&D
  • Manage all raw material questions, logistics, technology related safetyaspects etc.
  • Conduct technology benchmarking
  • Provide input from BASF's worldwide technology related experts
  • Manage risk control measures, where the pursuit of innovations bearsmajor risks
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives based on product portfolio and productspec issues
  • Manage safety of design, process and operational issues
  • Support the application for project initial and final approval
  • Support the authority approval process
  • Support the preparation of operation manuals including startup andshutdown procedures
  • Ensure the linkage between the requirements for commissioning, start upand maintenance and / as well as for the project team
  • Set up and update the plant specific asset and maintenance strategy(incl. EHS)
  • Ensure the development of the technical production resources andpreservation of the asset base in order to achieve optimal availability andlife cycle cost
  • Align operational processes, methods, and tools in the area ofresponsibility with the standards of the site
  • Define KPIs relevant to assets (asset availability)
  • Utilities and power consumption analysis
  • Energy optimization solution
  • Order all technical measures
  • Select and assess service providers
  • Define the technical maintenance budget
  • Responsible for RC audit and documentation
  • Ensure the required reliability, availability, and maintainability ofthe project to meet the project requirements
  • Provide input for related planning and detailed engineering documents tothe engineering team
  • Requirements :

  • Master’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain / Industrial Engineering /
  • Degree in process engineering, industrial engineering, chemicalengineering or mechanical engineering
  • Long term work experience (6+years) in operations and / or projects in thecryogenic tank farm environment
  • Strategic thinker, Strong analytical skills, high communication skills,strong leadership, intercultural, interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Profound knowledge in logistics technologies, optimization methods andoperation processes
