Manager, People Services

The People Services team offers an extensive range of compliance and advisory services to local and international organisations, helping them to manage their mobile workforce.

Our service covers the development of policies and related remuneration packages, cross-border solutions between China and other jurisdictions, reviews of international assignment programmes, immigration, social securities, tax, human resources advice, payroll, completion of PRC tax returns for assignees and advanced technology-

based solutions. The PS client portfolio ranges from large multinational companies to local start-ups.


  • Proactively communicate with, and manage expectations of, clients, and team members of KPMG member firms in the course of delivering immigration services
  • Ability to provide strategic advice on immigration rules and practices
  • Managing a variety of applications, including visa and work / resident permit applications, extension and renewal and etc.
  • Managing end-to-end application process, from initiation through to successful completion, including liaising with the client to collate necessary information / documentation, drafting applications, issuing advice and lodging applications with Chinese government agencies
  • Select appropriate methods for collecting and analysing data, and develop informed recommendations that shape or support the client's business strategy
  • Participate in marketing opportunities and business development
  • Knowledge or experience in other areas of global mobility also a desirable skill
  • Achieve financial metrics as set by the practice by effectively managing engagements and by ensuring timely and accurate client billing
  • Coordinate special projects and work with partners and senior managers on immigration proposals / business opportunities
  • Managing resource allocation, workflow and resource utilisation
  • Coach and mentor staff
  • Identify areas of program improvement for both clients and the local practice
  • Experience and Knowledge

  • Minimum of 5 years-experience in providing immigration related services
  • Ability to analyse global mobility arrangement, and interaction of onshore and offshore immigration rules pertaining to cross border movement of human resources
  • Possess presentation skills with an excellent command of spoken and written English. Other language skills are a plus
  • Possess good client relationship skills : Flexible and open-minded / work cross functionally and cross culturally / decent networks of client relationships / communicating value propositions
  • Considerable experience as a team leader : Ability to supervise / mentor staff / providing a supportive environment / sharing knowledge / encourage improvement and innovation
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Education and Professional Certifications

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited university (Degree holders in Human Resources Management or related disciplines is preferred)
