Job DescriptionLawyer for the Janssen China Research & Development organisation ("JCRD"); position basedin Beijing (preferred) or Shanghai.

Specific focus is on legal support for pharmaceuticalresearch & development activitiesKeyAccountabilitiesProvide legal counsel,guidance and support to JCRD as directed by the Janssen China lead lawyer to support legal and compliant research and development activities including the following : Proficient at negotiatingand drafting various contracts including clinical trials, researchcollaboration, investigator-initiated studies, consulting, research vendorservices, non-disclosure, significant supply and other related agreements.

Proactively assesslegal risks and, in collaboration with JCRD Strategy & Operations and otherstakeholders, devise and implement policies and procedures to address andmanage those risks including preventive actions, revising operating procedures trainingsand communications.

Provide guidanceon and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and industry codes.Support new researchinitiatives and liaison with commercial strategy (i.

e. how research is aligned andcould impact with financial plans).Engage and manageoutside counsel including providing appropriate budgets for outside counsel andground rules for when and how to engage outside legal services / support.

Manage alllitigation, dispute resolution, and any internal and external investigations relatedto JCRD.Proactivelypartner and work with other Johnson & Johnson lawyers in the region and globallyto drive local alignment with regional and global best practices and legal knowledge sharing.

Others activities as directedby supervisor or lead lawyer of XJP· Expertise in agreementsand documentation for clinical trials including international multi-centretrials· Expertise in subject safety and compensation negotiations in clinicaltrials· Advise JCRD on its copy clearance materialsand internet-related activities· Perform corporate governance functions forthe legal entity including fulfilling all applicable reporting requirements relatingto board and shareholders meetings (to the extent required under the laws of China).

QualificationsCandidate ProfileKey Qualifications : · Juris Doctorate, LLB or equivalent law degree from a good law school in China and a graduate degree from an internationally recognized university outside of China.

  • Licence to practice law in China; licence in additional jurisdictions preferred.· Fluent in written and spoken English and native fluency in written and spoken Mandarin.
  • At least 3 years of relevant legal experience since qualification - ideally trained by a multinational law firm or a multinational life science company.
  • Experience working in or with multinational corporations in the life science industry.· Broad-based commercial and corporate experience is a plus.
  • Experience doing transactional or cross-border licensing and acquisitions and divestitures and integration is a plus.Candidates should also possess the following skills and capabilities : · Self-starter - strong drive for results & strong sense of ownership but also willing to take direction.
