Role Purpose / Description
The Market Data and External Services Infrastructure (MDESI) team is a specialized team for the implementation and support of market data and trading infrastructure technology in Asia Pacific, which is a hub to provide market data / external services across more than 17 Asia Pacific countries.
MDESI is responsible for market data infrastructure platforms including Thomson Reuters TREP-RT, external services like Bloomberg, Factset, BT Radianz, TNS and other trading platforms like Reuters FXT and EBS spot, Stock Exchanges Infrastructure, dedicated Exchange / vendor feeds and also low latency platform such as Solace, and messaging tool Symphony, etc.
The success of the team is measured through the availability of reliable services and the delivery of new / enhanced technologies to facilitate business needs in the region.
There are opportunities exist within the team for System Specialist to help in the support functions. Reporting to the Senior Technical Services Manager of MDESI in Hong Kong, your remit will be to provide a cohesive vision of infrastructure capability and opportunity for business in Asia Pacific.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following :
Provide 1st level support for all market data infrastructure and external services in Hong Kong and other Asia Pacific countries, and also follow-
the-sun global support for market data infrastructure and external services in UK / US used by the Asia Pacific business during Asia time zone.
Assist in the implementation of market data infrastructure and external services projects / requests in Asia Pacific and global to meet with business requirements and adhering to global MDESI and Group standards and directions.
Working closely with business teams, and various application IT parties including Telecommunication, market data and network services vendors, and Global MDESI teams for project / requests implementation / testing / verification and rollout.
Involved in market data infrastructure and external services upgrade (desktop applications, server applications, network circuits), performance and capacity management, and also any vendor / network changes and verification, systems drill test, etc to ensure stable and uninterruptible services to be delivered to business while meeting with the agreed Services Level Agreement.
To follow group and Global MDESI procedures and processes, including required administration, documentation to ensure all MDESI systems under the proper configuration management and all incidents, changes, event are within group and regional incident, change and event management governance.
Work closely with regional and global Market Data Infrastructure and External Services teams to share knowledge and experience to enrich the team’s capability and work together to provide a total services on Market Data and External services to HSBC businesses globally.
Successful candidate be educated to Bachelors-degree level or equivalent on IT / Engineering disciplines with minimum two / three years working experience with at least one year solid experience in technical services implementation and support of mission critical communication, trading and / or networking systems.
Good knowledge on Linux OS, including UNIX scripting and administration, VI editor, Microsoft Windows OS and basic desktop applications is a must
Good understanding on networking including Telecom circuits, network switches and routers, TCPIP protocol suites e.g. IP, UDP, DNS, FTP, HTTP, etc are required while more in-
depth networking knowledge such as Cisco CCNA / CCNP qualification will definitely an advantage.
Confident to provide 1st line system support and handle urgent and critical incidents following standard processes and the ability to make good judgment for escalation for the fast recovery of services to business.
Hands on knowledge / experience with Thomson Reuters Market Data Platform and good understanding on Financial Markets services and working experience with trading operations in finance industry or similar environment is highly appreciated.
Good communication (oral and written English) skills is a must, and be able to discuss and handle conflicts with confidence in English.
The successful applicant must be self-motivated, customer service orientated, and above all, willing to learn and pick up new things / technologies and be a fast learner.
Willing to work in exception hours for production support and system release, and also roster for Asia Pacific support at night or weekends.
