task based learning, the lexical approach as well as other methodological approaches relevant to our students’ needs.
Our classes involve high student to student interaction, relatively low teacher talk time and ensure that students are provided with exposure to language in engaging ways, study patterns and form and then have lots of practice activating or producing language in real and meaningful ways.
We want to motivate our students, focus on the things they do well and positively reinforce their language experimentation.
Our classes mimic aspects of the way that children acquired their first language so we do not use Chinese in class. We run workshops every week on subjects including phonology, developing literacy in second language learners, motivation, learner types, differentiation of classroom materials, presenting grammar and classroom management to name but a few.
At our school, there are currently around 20 teachers; some from China some from the UK, Canada, the US and South Africa.
