TP / EHS is responsible for the development and localization of the chassis for the local production of heavy-duty trucks.
The primary focus of this position is to support the mechanical integration of the powertrain and affected components (engine periphery parts as air intake, cooling system, exhaust after treatment system including AdBlue System as engine and transmission mounts) into the chassis in terms of optimizing functionality, drivability and durability aligned with the suppliers and the respective responsible department in the global Daimler organization.
1. Coordinate activities necessary for a successful and sustaining integration of powertrain components into an existing chassis between suppliers (internal or external), the respective responsible departments and TP / EHS considering functional, durability, safety, homologation and legal aspects in local applications but also meeting global Daimler Truck network requirements.
2. Derive specifications for powertrain components, aggregates and parts from overall project specifications. Develop and evaluate concepts and packaging studies for mechanical and functional integration of powertrain components to meet existing boundary conditions in an effective and efficient way.
Initiate and induce agreement between all involved departments on necessary adjustments of existing component.
3. Carry out design and development activities of new components and adjustments. Support awarding of suppliers and sourcing of components according to project milestones (e.
g. for building up of prototype vehicles). Create and induce agreement between all involved departments on validation plans for each component / system, to validate required functionality and durability according to specified boundary conditions and maturity level.
4. Assess testing results, issue root-cause analysis and elaborate counter measures where necessary. Coordinate documentation and release activities according to project milestones and deadlines.
