Purpose of the job Responsible for the selection and hydraulic design of pumps along with provision of technical support to the Sales & Tendering team in the form of detailed Engineering proposals at Tender stage ensuring that technically optimized and innovative solutions are offered which meet customer's requirements and overall RES PS strategy.
Main tasks and responsibilities 1. Undertake responsibility of hydraulic selection, design, processing and supporting activities.
2. Development of bespoke solutions, when necessary, to ensure designs are fit for purpose from an application and hydraulic design perspective, liaising with New Business & Product Development when required.
3. Manage, by overview, all open engineering requests associated with Tender / Enquiry activity4. Review Technical specifications, provide comments / exceptions, input Technical know-how as required to ensure proposals are technically fit for purpose5.
Beresponsible for identifying and documenting areas of technical risk and level of design review associated with Projects at an early Tender stage6.
Challenge traditional Sulzer thinking to ensure we remain ahead of the competition without taking excessive risk7. Provision of estimated Engineering man-hours to enable completion of project cost estimating8.
Provision of preliminary calculations and prescriptions9. Attend pre-order kick off and client meetings to ensure an understanding of the work to be undertaken and the key project milestones10.
Liaise with and support others (Production, Test Bed, Service Centers & Customers) as necessary with specialist hydraulic advice & problem solving11.
Complete hydraulic design reviews, calculations & maintain records as appropriate to satisfy design, manufacturing and customer requirements12.
Issue of Hydraulic Technical Data Sheets & Trim Chits to mechanical design on assigned projects13. Provision of general arrangement drawings, section drawings and other Technical documentation (e.
g. data sheets, technical bid assessment questionnaires) as necessary to satisfy client's Tender requirements14. Development and maintenance, as necessary, of standard technical documents / Databases for Tendering / Sales use on routine technical enquiries15.
Provide an Engineering presence, when required, on Sales visits, at bid clarification and client kick off meetings16. Reviewing / Updating OED (Order Entry Dossier) information in conjunction with Sales / Tendering prior to Order handover17.
Provision of technical advice and support to Order Related Engineering at handover and throughout the Project execution phase18.
Liaise with and support other Sulzer LE's on technical aspects of related Tender activity as required19. Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection and continual improvement.
20. Be familiar with the risks and hazards within the activities and processes of the role and procedures, practices and measures in place to mitigate the risks.
