London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) operates in a highly regulated environment and is affected by political, legislative and regulatory developments in jurisdictions around the world.
The Government Relations and Regulatory Strategy Team identifies, responds to and communicates LSEG policy positions on key issues and engages with policy makers and opinion formers globally to ensure the regulatory and legislative environment supports our business objectives.
The team is responsible for managing LSEG and its subsidiaries’ regulatory and political relationships, communicating with authorities and achieving policy and regulatory change.
The team also provides a private office function for the Chairman, Chief Executive and Executive Team, supporting their programme of external political and regulatory engagement.
The Head of China, Government Relations and Regulatory Strategy Director, is a key influencer and contributor to the Group’s business success.
They are responsible for understanding how the Group’s commercial objectives in China can be advanced through regulatory change in the region, as well as understanding how developments in the local political and regulatory landscape are creating opportunities that can shape the Group’s commercial objectives.
This is achieved by maintaining and developing strong relationships across the Group internally, bringing to bear significant technical expertise in financial services, as well as building and deepening the Group’s regulatory and political relationships in the region.
Research, monitor, anticipate and interpret relevant political, regulatory and policy developments and produce internal analysis, consultation responses, and internal and external briefings as required.
Develop and execute comprehensive strategies and campaigns to gain the support of stakeholders in the region to support stated commercial and policy goals.
Develop and maintain an appropriate network of relevant officials, regulators, politicians, opinion formers, trade bodies and other stakeholders to support LSEG’s strategic, political and commercial priorities, often working in strong partnership with these external stakeholders.
Build strong internal relationships with key stakeholders to understand business objectives and coordinate across different departments including capital markets, post trade and information services.
Provide government relations support for commercial pitches, including participating in client meetings when needed.
Represent the Group externally in meetings, speaking events and conference.
Produce briefings for senior LSEG executives, drive high profile events with key stakeholders, proactively source speaking and meeting opportunities to support LSEG objectives.
Help shape the Group’s commercial objectives through providing regulatory and political insights.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills
Educated to degree level with a strong interest and / or background in international affairs, economics or public policy.
A keen interest in and ability to understand and articulate complex and technical financial services issues.
Significant experience working with local regulatory authorities in China.
Experience working with foreign companies in the financial or professional services sector.
Proven ability to manage and prioritise work according to business goals and deadlines.
Comfortable networking and building contacts.
Proven experience of communicating, both orally and in writing to the highest standards, preferably with senior executives, politicians, diplomats and other individuals.
Demonstrable understanding of the pressures and requirements of working for senior decision makers.
Record of achieving policy change or commercial goals.
Highly organised, with the ability to support senior executives in their external engagement.
Fluent mandarin speaker.
Ability to analyse and come at issues with a 'global mindset'.
