Providing leadership to the core team for new product development of custom plastic and metal formed parts
Providing direction to the selected tooling suppliers for the management of tooling programs.
Participating in, and providing technical expertise and direction to Mechanical Engineering as well as the core teams.
Participation in developing support of new manufacturing, sustaining and material processes for Plantronics product requirements.
Developing strategies for optimizing DFM design efficiency though design creating schedules and planning as required.
Engineering resource allocation, including project and task assignments, capital expenses for new tooling acquisitions, modifications, financial justifications and management of outside resources when required.
Team building, mentoring, and leadership development
A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering or equivalent experience is desired.
15 + years industry experience with at least 10 years hands on experience designing or manufacturing injection molds or dies.
A strong background in, and understanding of, plastic part design as it relates to manufacturability and assembly.
A strong background in, and understanding of the processing of plastics and metals as it relates to molding and forming along with all associated secondary finishing technologies.
Technically proficient with Microsoft Office products, Creo, Autocad and Moldflow software.
He / She will have demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and the ability to lead the NPD team in problem solving to optimize performance.
He / She must be experienced in making products for high volume production where cost control, reliability and manufacturability while maintaining very aggressive schedules.
