Summary :

  • Responsiblefor overall strategy and direction of processesand procedures of assigned Business Unit. Interacts with executive management, customers, business development, supportfunctions and project teams to coordinate clinical trials and other assignedservices;
  • provides direction and strategy for the development of local business entities.

    Essential Functions :

  • Responsiblefor profit and loss, leadership, and growth of one or more assigned BusinessUnits.
  • Asprimary senior-level contact for customers, participates as requested, incustomer proposals, Request for Information (RFIs), presentations, proposal defenses, etc.
  • Interactsand collaborates with Global Business Units, Human Resources, Finanace andLegal departments for functioning of country office as required.
  • Coordinatesthe acquisition of necessary input from outside experts / consultants / advisors.
  • Representsthe Company by attending industrymeetings, speaking engagements, participating in booth exhibitions, etc., andby publishing scientific or industry related articles in industry journals.
  • Interactswith senior management and contributes input to other departments, asappropriate.
  • Linemanagement responsibilities for staff members. Approves courses of action on salary administration, interviewing andselection, terminations, professional development, performance appraisals,position description preparation, and employee counseling.
  • Works with and advises staff onadministrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities andmethods.

  • Other tasks and duties as determinedappropriate by Executive Management.
  • Other Responsibilities :

    Createa data-driven, strategy plan for quality delivery and growth in local country basedon cross-functional input, analysis, synthesis.

    Work with EVP APAC to integrateinto overall APAC strategy. Line manageand closely engage with small BU 8000 team in Japan to drive quality, soundstaffing , clinical employee development (including ownership of local countryspecific training needs and interfacing with Global Training and TalentDevelopment as needed), KPIs, and Lessons Learned across all BUs within countryof assignment.

    Oversee ICCC function,ensuring SOP and WI revisions as needed. Strengthen and grow key sponsor relationships, serving as executivepoint of escalation as needed.

    Supportand help to drive business development. Work with Operations Management to ensure continuous process improvementin core clinical processes (tied into global Trusted Process) and ancillaryprocesses within country of operation.

    Serveas cross-functional leader (matrix) for local leadership team across the TBUsBUs (including DM, SRG, SSU, etc.) andfunctional areas (including key support areas such as legal, HR, finance, IT,CRES).

    Motivate, unify, and inspirelocal leadership team and work to maintain cohesion with the corporate Visionfor local country.

    Serve on the APACRegional Leadership team, contributing and supporting solutions and improvementsthroughout the region. Engage withglobal leadership and provide effective, astute, pro-

    active, and culturallysensitive liaison support when needed between global and local entities.

    Ultimatelyincludes serving as the Representative Director of the local country entity / ClinicalServices

    Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Minimal travel may be required (up to25%).

    Qualifications

    PhD / Mastersdegree in the health sciences fields, or equivalent related degree and / orexperience, plus significant experience and thorough knowledge of clinicalresearch with progressive management experience.

    Experience in a Contract ResearchOrganization or Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology company is preferred. Experience working in a matrix-

    structuredenvironment with multiple product lines. Knowledge of local and International Regulatory Authorities. Abilityto handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines in a high stress environment.

    Effective organizational, presentation,documentation, analytical and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability tolead and motivate a matrix team.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email,and voicemail. Ability to implement,control and understand productivity measures and has a good understanding offinancial controls.

    ADD Native language levelproficiency in country of operation required.

    ADD English language levelproficiency minimum of Business Level required.

    ADD Minimum of 10 years ofclinical research management experience and five years of senior managementexperience required.
